The City of Johannesburg is offering short-term employment opportunities through its Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). These roles are ideal for unemployed residents who want to earn a stipend, gain experience, and contribute to improving city services.
Positions are available for:
- Data Capturers
- Cleaners at Opportunity Centres across various regions.
Both roles are open to youth, adults, and people with disabilities (PWD), with priority given to youth (18–35) and women.
1. EPWP – Administration: Data Capturing
Location: 66 Jorissen Street, Jorissen Place, Braamfontein
Stipend: R7 000 per month (all-inclusive)
Requirements:
- South African citizen
- Resident within the City of Johannesburg
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent
- At least 6 months’ admin & data capturing experience
- EPWPRS knowledge is an advantage
- Must be willing to take a computer-based assessment
- PWD applicants must provide proof of disability
Main Duties:
- Capture and manage EPWP data accurately
- Provide admin support to the EPWP Unit

2. EPWP – Opportunity Centre Cleaner
Locations: Opportunity Centres in:
- Region B (Ward 82)
- Region C (Ward 70)
- Region D (Ward 46)
- Region E (Ward 32 & 75)
- Region F (Ward 57)
- Region G (Ward 18)
Stipend: R7 000 per month (all-inclusive)
Requirements:
- South African citizen
- Resident within the City of Johannesburg
- Minimum Grade 10 (Grade 12 is an advantage)
- No prior work experience needed
- PWD applicants must provide proof of disability
Main Duties:
- Cleaning, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and waste removal
- Serving beverages during meetings and workshops
