The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is calling on young, committed, and fit South Africans to apply for its Metro Police Trainee Programme 2025.

About the Programme

  • Duration: 18 months of structured training
  • Position Type: Entry-level trainee
  • Number of Posts: 200
  • Stipend: Monthly (as determined by the department)
  • Department: TMPD – Training and Innovation, Police Training Academy

Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training in traffic policing, crime prevention, and by-law enforcement.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, you must:

Have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
Possess a valid manual driver’s licence and pass a driving test
Be a South African citizen and Tshwane resident (proof required)
Be 18–35 years old
Be medically fit (submit medical certificate)
Pass fitness, psychometric, and English proficiency tests
Have no criminal record or pending cases
Not be on the sexual or child offender register
Not have visible tattoos while in uniform
Not previously dismissed from government employment
Not declared incompetent to own a firearm
Be willing to sign a TMPD Code of Conduct

What You’ll Do After Training

Once qualified, Metro Police Officers will:

  • Enforce the National Road Traffic Act
  • Enforce municipal by-laws and regulations
  • Support crime prevention operations
